RIPON — Marcus Clark’s 25-yard touchdown reception from Marcus Patterson completed the Ripon Chiefs’ second-half comeback that culminated into a 26-20 victory over the visiting Modesto Rams in Trans Valley League varsity action Saturday.

Davis Armstrong preserved the victory with an interception, his second of the contest, on the Rams’ final drive. He also recovered a fumble for another turnover.

Patterson keyed the comeback charge with a 70-yard touchdown in the third quarter, and after a big defensive stand the Chiefs closed in 20-18 on Michael Morris’ 25-yard scoring jaunt. Nicholas Sharp tied it at 20 with the 2-point conversion. Patterson also had a 20-yard TD run in the second quarter.

The Chiefs will return to action Saturday back at Ripon High where the Tri-City Bulldogs will meet them.
