Manteca Cowboys prevail in 4th period against Mustangs

RIPON – The Ripon Chiefs junior varsity hammered the Hughson Huskies 48-6 Saturday in Motherlode Valley Football league action at Stouffer Field.

 Kaden MacDannald and Tyler-Paul Wentworth scored three touchdowns apiece for Ripon. MacDannald (10 carries, 139 yards) had touchdown runs of 19, 25 and 42 yards. Wentworth (three carries, 26 yards; two receptions, 59 yards) scored on a run of 15 yards and on passes of 20 and 39 yards from Garrison Reis (10 of 12 passing, 80 yards). Xzavier Clark rounded out the Chiefs scoring parade with a 77-yard interception return for a touchdown. 

 Seth Van Dyk led the Ripon defense with 10 tackles. Fernando Alaniz (forced fumble) added nine stops, Jesus Ochoa (pass defended) seven, Wentworth (pass defended) and MacDannald five each, Clark four and Quinn Martinez three.

Youth Football Varsity

Manteca Cowboys 26, Mountain House

Jr. Mustangs 20

 Manteca’s Keona Cayode scored on a 22-yard run in the fourth quarter to break a 20-20 tie. 

 Cayode led the Cowboys with 169 yards on 17 carries and additional touchdown runs of 4 and 57 yards. Angel Ramirez pulled in a 28-yard scoring pass from Dylan lee and Emilio Perez pounded the middle with 11 carries for 77 yards.

Cayode led Manteca with six tackles followed by Lee, Emilio Perez and Inderveer Sandhu with four apiece and Angel Ramirez, Junior Espinoza and Mateo Mejia with three each.


Manteca Jr. Timberwolves 49, Tracy Rampage 0

Keanu Duenas scored three times for the Jr. Timberwolves.

 Duenas (six carries, 70 yards) scored with a 17-yard run, a 25-yard pass from Joey Lopez (2 for 2 passing, 35 yards) and on a 22-yard interception return. Tommy Perea (six carries, 56 yards) had a 1- and 23-yard touchdown run; Evyn White (three carries, 65 yards) scored on a 46-yard run and Jason Garcia had a 7-yard touchdown run. 

Jason Agulay led Manteca with eight tackles. Evyn White added five stops, Luis Rivera (forced fumble, fumble recovery) four, Duenas and Dominic Ferreira-Moniz (rumble recovery) three and Perea (forced fumble) two. 

 

Junior Varsity

Cowboys 27, Jr. Mustangs 6

 Bryson Davis tallied a pair of touchdowns for the Cowboys.

 Davis (five carries, 96 yards) scored on runs of 26 and 35 yards with the 26-yarder set up by a Santana Stevenson interception. Gabriel Flores (seven carries, 48 yards) added an 8-yard scoring run and Omar Diaz had a 7-yard touchdown run. Julian Perez also contributed to the Manteca offense. 

 Davis, Blake Mount, Ivan Alvarez and Isaac Alvarez led the Cowboys with 10 tackles. Gavin Goodwin added nine stops, Donovan Jones and Nicholas Salcedo seven apiece and Landon Butler and Morgan Barcliff six each. 

 

Rookies

Jr. Mustangs 6, Cowboys 0

 Turnovers and dropped passes kept the Cowboys out of the end zone.

 Jeremy Ap’e had five tackles for Manteca, Dylan Stonum and Gabriel Lopez three each and 

James Jones three.

 

Jr. Timberwolves 12, Tracy 7

 Cameron Jackson picked up 100 yards on 18 carries with a 40-yard touchdown run for the Jr. Timberwolves.

 Manteca’s Preston Smith (eight carries, 40 yards) added a 7-yard scoring run. Luis Rosas (six carries, 40 yards), Albert Menchaca (five carries, 28 yards) and Maddox Morales all contributed on offense. 

 Menchaca made seven stops for the Jr. Timberwolves. Luis Rosas added seven tackles with Cameron Jackson, Owen Gully, Erik Vaquera, Robert Gaston and Damian Delgadillo all chipping in three stops apiece. 

 

Starts

Cowboys 21, Jr. Mustangs 0

Elias Lopez ran for two touchdowns and more than 100 yards for the Cowboys.

Lopez (13 carries, 116 yards) scored on runs of 22 and 61 yards. Kaleb Moreno (nine carries, 36 yards) added the other Manteca touchdown on a 44-yard interception return. 

 Lopez made 10 tackles and recovered a fumble. Mario Quezada added five stops, Daniel Bass Jr. (fumble recovery) four and Moreno: forced two fumbles and recovered one in addition to his pick-six. 

 

Jr. Timberwolves 34, Rampage 12

Leiland Riggelman ran wild for the Jr. Timberwolves.

 Riggelman picked up 167 yards on just 10 carries with touchdown runs of 25, 42 and 58 yards. Elijah Pugh (nine carries, 83 yards) added an 11-yard touchdown and Brody Carabello scored on a 40-yard run.

 Carabello and Riggelman made four tackles apiece, Alex Espinoza three and Elijah Pugh (interception) two. Brennan McMichael and Brixton Menchaca-Ortiz each had a tackle for a loss.

 

Trans-Valley Youth

Football League Varsity 

Ripon Knights 15, Mariposa Bears 6

 Blake Nichelson scored two touchdowns and ran for 135 yards for the Knights.  

Jacob Cormier added 98 rushing yards.

 Blake Nichelson was all over the field for Ripon with 18 tackles. Cormier and Logan Pollard had seven tackles each and Stanley Kensic five. 

 

Junior Varsity 

Knights 51, Bears 0

 The Knights used a balanced attack to blank the Bears.

Ripon’s Stephen Dillman (73 yards rushing) had touchdown runs of 23 and 27 yards. Jacob Camper scored on a 40-yard run, Jace Beidleman had a 4-yard touchdown run, Anden Ries ran in a score from 3 yards out and Quentin Clark had a 2-yard scoring plunge. Carson Sanders added 43 rushing yards Chase Bogetti was 4 for 6 on two-point conversion kicks.

 Rey Galindo had two interceptions – one returned 46 yards for a touchdown – and two tackles.  Sanders added three tackles and Cade Gemmell (fumble recovery) and Jacob Camper two apiece. 

 

Novice

Knights 18, Bears 6

 Ripon’s Gavin Decena tallied 141 yards on 14 carries with one touchdown.

 Mason Durao (four carries, 32 yards) added two touchdowns for the Knights. 

Johnathan Azevedo and Landon Corcoran made six tackles apiece for Ripon and Dax Beidleman and Mason Durao added five stops each.  

 

Junior Novice

Knights 12, Bears 0

Eleazer Coronado and Carmelo Rodriguez each scored a touchdown as the Knights won their first game of the season. 

 Ripon’s Zavier and Isaac San Nicolas led the defense in the total team effort for the shutout.

 

Cen-Cal Varsity

Turlock Bulldogs 30, Manteca Raiders 0

 David Flores picked up 68 yards on 16 carries for the Raiders and Andrew Yzaguirre added 14 yards on three carries. 

 Flores led the Manteca defense with seven tackles. Yzaguirre made six stops, Justin Tisdell five, Ricardo Villavalzo four, Xavier Guerrero and Louis Sequeira three apiece and Mason Gibson two. 

 

Rookies

Raiders, Bulldogs

 Ayden Brush scored two touchdowns on two carries for the Raiders.

 Manteca’s Kristian Miranda tallied 83 yards with a touchdown and DeAndre Patterson had six carries for 135 yards.

Elijah Arreola led the Raiders defense with six tackles. Miranda added three stops and Jaxon Hetrick and Dominic Flores had two stops each.
