The Brewers avenged two regular-season losses when they completed a two-game postseason sweep of the A’s on Tuesday, winning 8-1 to claim the Manteca Little League Major Division championship.

“That team beat us twice during the season,” Brewers manager Rob Gross said. “And then the boys just came out and hit and we have had no errors in the last two games.”

A three-run third by the Brewers broke a scoreless tie. Jacob Moon walked to start off the frame and came around to score when Nico Ilardi’s sacrifice bunt attempt was misplayed and Ilardi ended up on second. Ilardi scored on a wild pitch and Dylan Gross hit his second double of the night, plating Ryan Ward.

From his catcher position Moon picked off two A’s runners at first.

The Brewers put up five more in the fifth, highlighted by a two-RBI single Roy Samaniego and Moon’s RBI single.

The A’s could not get a hit off of A’s pitcher Ward who left with an out in sixth inning. After Ward’s departure, Vince Hernandez got a two-out double and he scored on an Isaiah Perez single.

On Saturday, the Brewers rode the rocket arm of Moon to a 10-0 shutout behind 10 strikeouts, Moon’s third no-hitter of the season.

Offensive highlights on Saturday for the Brewers include a 3-for-3 outing for Ilardi, a two-run home run by Ward and in a five-run sixth,  RBI singles by Nate Gutierrez, Pete Martinez and Moon.

The Brewers open against Salida in the District 67 Tournament of Champions on Saturday, June 15 in Tracy.
