A drug store plus a fast food restaurant have signed deals to locate at the Stadium Retail Center where the Dress Barn and Jo-Ann’s Fabrics are scheduled to open next month.
Community Development Director Mark Nelson made that announcement during the Manteca City Council workshop earlier this week.
Jo-Ann’s Fabrics will open in what was once the Circuit City store while Dress Barn will open in vacant space between Kohl’s and Ross Dress For less.
Nelson said the name of the two new businesses will be announced by Kitchell Development within the month.
At one point, Kitchell was talking with Walgreen’s to locate a second Manteca location as part of the next phase of the Stadium Retail Center that included a Lowe’s Home Improvement store on the southeast corner of Daniels Street and Airport Way. Lowe’s put on hold their decision to build in Manteca until the economy improves.
The shopping complex to the east of the existing Stadium Retail Center and Airport Way has already gone through the review process and can proceed at any time Kitchell secures building permits.
The third phase of the Stadium Retail Center includes a 140,013-square-foot Lowe’s Home Improvement Center plus a 29,153-square-foot garden center. It will be bigger than Manteca’s largest existing retailer which is the 135,000-square-foot Costco store.
The Lowe’s store along with 27,820 square feet of retail shops and a 4,000-square-foot restaurant will be built on 16 acres on the northeast corner of the Airport Way and the Highway 120 Bypass interchange. There are also pads for fast food restaurants.
The actual Lowe’s store will be built close to the homes on Laurel Park Circle to the east.
A traffic signal will be installed at Fishback and Daniels Street where the main entrance to the center will tie into the intersection.
Lowe’s also is being required to reduce energy consumption by 25 percent to comply with state law. It has been suggested they could accomplish that by installing solar photo voltaic cells on the roof.
If Walgreen’s is the retailer it will give them two drug stores in Manteca. Rite-Aid and CVS Pharmacy both already have two Manteca stores.
The fast food restaurant would be a first for Manteca as it would be the only one on the Highway 120 Bypass corridor.
Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and the Hampton Inn Suites will open next month a mile to the east at The Promenade Shops at orchard Valley.
