Brock Elliott drive to help fire victims

The Brock Elliott School Parent Teachers Organization is conducting a donation drive to help some of the thousands affected by current fires in Northern California.

The Brock Elliott PTO is seeking the donation of the following items: Bottled water, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, shampoo, paper towels, toilet paper, dog food, cat food, socks/undergarments (new), and non perishable food or snacks.

Drop off your items to Brock Elliott Elementary at 1110 Stonum Lane in Manteca through Friday, Sept. 18.

Volunteers will also be in the front parking lot collecting items on Thursday, Sept. 17, from 4 to 6 p.m.



Legion Post

receiving $500

donation

America Legion Post 249 will be accepting a $500 donation from Eva McHenry, founder and President of Miles of Smiles Network for the organization’s Americans With Disabilities (ADA) upgrade fund.

The donation will take place Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 6:30 p.m. at the Legion Hall on East Yosemite Avenue.

Miles of Smiles Network is a philanthropic organization based in Manteca. The network is composed of artists and entertainers across California coming together to help causes and organizations which are making a difference in local communities through the arts, education, and entertainment. Miles of Smiles Network believes in the power of philanthropy to change communities. Their vision is based on a very simple premise: Do Good Unto Others.

 Award winning children’s author John Paul Padilla, will attend to help present the check. His mascot, Johnny Big Ears, will also be there.

 Last month Jim Byrd of the Manteca Senior Advisory Commission presented the Legion with a $500 donation on behalf of the Manteca Senior Center community.
