Couple underwrites additional firearms training for officers

John and Denise Holbrook present certificates for additional training to Ripon Police Sgt. Tim Bailey.

RIPON — Manteca-French Camp residents Denise and John Holbrook have a special place in their hearts for local law enforcement officers.

They have set up The Holbrook Family Law Enforcement Scholarship Fund, which donates firearms training certificate classes to law enforcement agencies in the northern San Joaquin Valley.

The donated training certificates allow local law enforcement officers to attend world-class handgun, rifle, and shotgun courses, free of charge, at the prestigious Front Sight Training Institute, located in Pahrump, Nevada.

Denise and John Holbrook met with command staff members at the Ripon Police Department on Aug. 4 to present two training certificates to the department. First Sgt. Steve Merchant, and Sgt. Tim Bailey, both graduates of the Front Sight Training Institute, graciously received the certificates.

“Through their generous donations, the Holbrooks are allowing our officers to attend training that can save lives,” Sgt. Bailey said.
