Rural Manteca party ends with three being shot

Three party-goers were shot at 1 a.m. Sunday at a party in the 21000 block of South Union Road near its intersection with Fig Avenue in rural South Manteca.

Sheriff’s Detective Dave Konecny said the gunfire broke out after late arrivals walked into a large party at a rural home.  Two victims were transported to Doctors Hospital of Manteca by ambulance and the third was sent to San Joaquin General Hospital, reportedly with non-life threatening wounds. It was unclear whether they were shot inside the home or outside the residence.

He said the additional guests appeared to have been drawn by word of mouth of where the party was being held in the rural area.

Manteca Police officers were called to Doctors Hospital by staff members when partiers began to arrive at the emergency room. Police were asked to control the crowd who were concerned about their friends.

The Sheriff’s office reportedly had little information available because of the weekend incident.  A more specific and in-depth press release is expected to be forthcoming today.
