Manteca Police responded to a predawn shooting in the 300 block of Locust Avenue Thursday where a 20-year-old resident chased after the shooter that fled in a Jeep-style vehicle.

The suspect or suspects fled the area, officers said.

When police arrived on the scene they could find no damage to the residence and no injuries were suffered by the occupants of the home.  However, evidence located at the scene indicated that a firearm had been discharged, they noted.

The incident began some 10 minutes before the shooting, residents said, when an unknown white male adult entered the garage which had been converted into a bedroom. The 20-year-old reportedly confronted the stranger followed the suspect outside. The suspect left.

Approximately 10 minutes later the suspect returned to the residence where the man was still standing outside the home.  The suspect allegedly fired one round from his vehicle as he drove by the home.  Some four minutes later he returned again and drove by the victim’s residence brandishing a firearm at the 20-year-old, however, no further shots were fired.
