Trustee Rex Holiday of the Manteca Unified School District sees the newest principal at Weston Ranch High as possibly a good fit.
“He was wearing Weston Ranch’s school colors (of maroon and gray),” he said of Jose Fregoso at last Tuesday’s school board meeting.
Fregoso was selected as the third principal in school history, taking over from Clara Schmiedt, who recently took over as senior director of secondary education.
In closed session, the board voted 7-0 on the appointment of the newcomer.
Fregoso was previously an assistant principal at Lindhurst High of the Marysville Joint Union School District.
He was in charge of school safety, discipline, coordinating the School Attendance Review Board (SARB) process, and working with teachers, counselors, students and parents.
In addition, Fregoso, who is a graduate of UC Santa Barbara – he earned his degree in Psychology, with masters in both Pupil Personnel Services and School Counseling from the University of La Verne – assisted with staff development, program implementation, parent workshops, teacher trainings, and standardized testing.
He also holds credentials in Pupil Personnel Services and a certificate of eligibility for Administrative Services.
According to his references, Fregoso is as “fair, just and treats all people equally, he is an honest man with good moral values.”
He and his wife, Amy, have four young children.
