ESCALON — A 58-year-old Escalon woman motorist was killed shortly before 7 a.m. Tuesday on Mariposa Road at Carrolton Road in a head-on crash with a Kenworth truck.

CHP Public Information Officer James Smith said all three vehicles were driving at about 55 miles per hour at the time of the crash.  Garrett Sibert, 32, of Rio Vista was driving his truck eastbound on Mariposa Road.  A 2004 Chevy driven by Donald Machado, 27, of Stockton, was heading westbound prior to the collision.  The Escalon motorist behind the wheel in her 2010 Honda was also westbound on Mariposa Road.

For some unknown reason the truck drove to the left and into the westbound lane and into the path of the Stockton man in his 2004 Chevy.  Following the initial collision, the Escalon motorist collided head-on with the truck after it continued eastbound in the westbound lane while she reportedly attempted to make an evasive turn to the right, according to the report.

Neither of the other two drivers sustained any injuries in the crash.  Alcohol was reported not to have been a factor in the collision, according to the CHP.
