The Manteca Historical Society is staging a reception at the museum following next week’s Veterans Day parade and ceremonies.

The free noon event at the museum, 600 W. Yosemite, will include the unveiling of a new rotating display.

Upwards of 30 entries are expected for Manteca’s inaugural Veterans Day parade on Wednesday, Nov. 11, starting at 9:15 a.m.

The route starts at Wetmore Street, heads up Main Street to Yosemite Avenue, and then turns left onto Yosemite Avenue to reach Library Park where Veterans Day ceremonies are being staged.

The Veterans Post 6311 honor guard will pause on the route to fire volleys under the Manteca arch and again in front of the judge’s stand by the Veterans Mural Wall.

The grand marshal this year is “The Vietnam Veteran.”

The traditional Veterans Day ceremonies are being conducted by American Legion Post 249 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6311 will take place.

Among the speakers will be Mayor Gary Singh and San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors Chair Sonny Dhaliwal
