The adult male body that washed up near the Turtle Beach Campground on Wednesday was identified by the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office as a man from Manteca.

Joseph Raymond Tigue, 53, was named by the sheriff’s office Thursday afternoon as being the deceased person that was discovered in the river near the popular resort accessible from Williamson Road.

The sheriff’s office was contacted by a fisherman on Wednesday just before noon, and deputies that arrived on scene made the determination that detectives were needed based on the nature of the circumstances.

While authorities haven’t released any information about what may have led to Tigue’s death, it is being investigated as a homicide.

Anybody with information about Tigue’s death or his last known whereabouts is encouraged to contact the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Unit at 209.468.4425.
