The San Joaquin County District Attorney has formally filed charges against former San Joaquin County correctional officer Brandon Wolff.

Earlier this week district attorney Ron Freitas announced that Wolff – who was arrested earlier this month on charges of possession of controlled substances and cannabis as a well as an assault rifle – was being charged with altering a computer system for illegal use and unauthorized copy and use of computer data.

In a press release the DA’s office said that the investigation was ongoing but did not mention the gun and drug charges that Wolff was originally arrested on.

“It is imperative that we hold every member of the community accountable for their crimes, regardless of their profession,” San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas said. “I would like to thank the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office for their transparency and assure the public my Office will hold anyone accountable for violating public trust.”

Three other unnamed sheriff’s office staffers were placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into potential ties to Wolff’s alleged criminal activity – the extent of which has not been disseminated by authorities.

San Joaquin County Sheriff Pat Withrow said that if the investigation finds that there was no wrongdoing on the part of those three employees, they will be welcomed back to the agency with open arms.
