Summer Reed was among those who were thrilled with Wednesday’s East Union High Art Show.

The senior in Kim Ray’s Advanced Ceramics class took first place with her teapot project.

It was one of two pieces she entered in the Art Show — the other was that of a mixed-media tradigrade.

Reed, who hopes to get into Aerospace Engineering, was excited about her ceramic teapot, which took a little bit over two weeks complete.

That piece along with Elizabeth Sweger’s Best-in-Show terracotta bust based on one of her ancestors will be among those advancing to the Best of the Best Manteca Unified Art Show and Sale scheduled for April 26 on the first floor of the District Office from 4 to 7 p.m.

The East Union Art Show featured an array of visual and performing arts.

Included was the Drama Department’s performance of “The Little Mermaid” under the direction of Annette Taser.

The EU band and choir also performed during the annual event.

The Manteca High Visual and Performing Arts Department, in conjunction with the Advanced Floral and Fashion Merchandising classes, will host the Annual Night of the Arts tonight from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Winter Gymnasium.
