Father looking for someone to help with electric wheelchair

Richard Nelson is looking to find a home for an electric wheelchair that once belonged to his son.

Roger Nelson was 65 when he passed away in June. He served in the Army.

For that, his father is hoping to give the wheelchair for free to a veteran of the armed services.

“I tried calling those at the local Veterans Administration (groups) – they couldn’t find anyone,” Richard Nelson said on Wednesday.

He noted that he would consider giving it to someone – a non-veteran – in need at no price. “That would be a judgement call,” Nelson added.

The wheelchair is a Quantum model equipped with hand controls, gently used, and with a charger.

“It also has a vehicle hookup for the back of a carrier on a truck,” said Richard Nelson, who is a longtime Manteca resident.

He added: “I’m just trying to find a good home for (my son’s) wheelchair.”
