Mason Ferrulli enjoys sports.
According to his mother Monica, he was active in baseball along with fishing and hunting.
But for the past five years, the 15-year-old Ripon youngster – he’ll be 16 in May – has been sideline with cancer. Ferrulli was diagnosed with a brain tumor near his brain stem and underwent numerous treatments and surgeries since then.
Mason Ferrulli, who is a three-time Ependymoma brain cancer and spine cancer survivor, has received plenty of support.
Included is New York Yankee slugger Aaron Judge, who grew up in nearby Linden. He not only gifted a set of his custom baseball cards – thanks to Topps – but went on to facetime Ferrulli on social media not too long ago.
Another supporter is the Manteca High girls’ varsity soccer team.
Back in February, the Buffaloes hosted their “Kicking for A Cure” game against visiting Weston Ranch High. The annual event brings local awareness and hope to the fight against cancer.
This year, the Buffaloes and head coach Justin Coenenberg selected to help out Mason Ferrulli and his family.
“It’s amazing,” said Monica on the local support from Manteca High. She and her husband, Kyle, continue to devote their time and effort to being there for Mason.
They’ve been overwhelmed by the support of others. The “Kicking for A Cure” by MHS raised $16,241 to help the Ferrullis in their time of need.
“Our family would like to thank every single person who donated their time, money and heart into this event.
“We hope we will be able to meet and thank every single one you in person someday. But until then, please know you have made a significant impact on our lives. And a very special thank you to Justin for organizing this amazing fundraiser – you have been such a blessing to our family,” said Monica on Tuesday.
