Lathrop offers free drive-thru recycling Saturday

The City of Lathrop will be hosting an Earth Day Recycling Event / Drug Take Back Day on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at Mossdale Landing Park, 700 Towne Centre Dr.

Recycling will be a free drive-thru event for residents. They’ll get a chance for free mulch (limit is two bags) while supplies last.

Among the acceptable items for recycling are:

·         Tires – Pick-up trucks or automobile size (must be removed from the rims).

·         Batteries – Household, car, motorcycle, and marine.

·         Paints – Enamel, oil, water, and latex based (nail polish and artist paint).

·         Mattresses – Infant, twin, full, queen, Cal king, king (no box frames, pads or toppers, sleeping bags, pillows, car beds, water beds or air mattresses, fold-out sofa beds, or severely damaged, wet, twisted, frozen, soiled, or infested mattresses).

·         E-waste – Monitors (CRT, LCD, plasma, LED), televisions (rear projection, CRT, LCD, plasma, LED, DLP), computers (laptop, desktop), VCRs, DVD players & portables, CD players, telephone, cell phones, answering machines, printers, scanners, copiers, fax machines, radios, stereos, video game consoles, digital cameras, tablets, telecom equipment, network equipment, keyboards / mice, zip drives, electronic cables, power cords, and microwaves. 

The Lathrop Police Department will be handling the Drug Take Back consisting of unused, expired, and unwanted prescription drugs for proper disposal.
