Move to split home from church parcel

At the northeast corner of West Main Street and North Acacia Avenue in Ripon is the First Congregational Church of Ripon.

It was established in 1979.

Next door is a single-family home. Both places are located in area of town with zoning designated for residential.

The City of Ripon recently put out a public notice, requesting to subdivide that property into two parcels.

A public hearing on the matter will take place at the May 16 Ripon Planning Commission.

The square footage of the current property is 14,275.

“The purpose of the subdivision is to separate the church building from the residential home,” according to the public notice.

The church – call it Parcel 1 – is located at 100 N. Acacia Ave. and is about 9,631 square feet. Parcel 2 is the 4,745-square-foot home at 114 N. Acacia Ave.

State government code specifies that the proposed subdivision may be challenged during the 6 p.m. public hearing in the Council Chamber, 259 N. Wilma Rd., or in writing via e-mail at cityclerk@cityofripon.org.
