Everything from a new kids program at the museum to an autism walk, and a chili cook-off to help families struggling with food security are taking place in the coming days.

The Manteca Historical Society will be launching its Museum Kids Club starting Saturday, April 25, at 10 a.m.

The free event will be held at the museum 600 W. Yosemite Ave. every last Saturday of each month.

It includes story time, arts, crafts, and exploring the museum exhibits,

The museum’s annual Spring Vintage Sale is Saturday, May 16. From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Walk for Autism this

Saturday at Sierra

The Walk for Autism takes place Saturday, April 18, at Sierra High, 1700 Thomas St.

The entire community is invited to support Autism acceptance and awareness.

Gates open at 1 p.m. followed by a ceremony at 1:15 p.m.
The walk starts at 1:30 p.m. The event ends at 3 p.m.

The free event is for all ages for participants to walk with other autism families.

There will be free refreshments.

There also will be food trucks and vendors.

All proceeds from the event benefits local children with Autism through the efforts of Manteca Moms Supporting Kids with ASD in partnership with Manteca Recreation & Community Services.

Food Bank chili

cook off Saturday

The annual Chili Cook Off benefiting the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Greater Valley takes place on Saturday, April 18, at the Manteca Transit Center, 220 Moffat Blvd.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children 10 and under.

The event starts at 5:30 p.m.

The food pantries Second Harvest supplies have served more than 100,000 first-time clients and over 550,000 returning clients in the last fiscal year. That represents 19.3 million pounds of food that was distributed.

Firefighters pancake

breakfast set for May 9

Manteca firefighters are staging their annual pancake breakfast on Saturday, May 9.

It takes place from 7 to 11 a.m. at Station 1, 290 South Powers Ave.

It is a fundraiser benefitting the Captain Tom Moore Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, and sausage.

It is served with coffee, milk and orange juice.

Tickets are $10. Children under 10 are $5.
