Ripon Christian Schools are looking to expand.

According to the public notice last week, RC is looking to add an off-campus bus storage and maintenance yard facility.

This would be in an area east of Highway 99 – an existing lot of about 34,848 square feet zoned for Community Commercial – at 775 Frontage Rd., one of three parcels owned by H-W Construction Co.

The Fulton Avenue freeway crossing would separate the proposed site and the RC campus at 435 Maple Ave., in terms of proximity.

“They’re looking to free up some space (at RC) for other things,” said Planning Director Ken Zuidervaart, referring to the proposed move of the bus storage and maintenance yard at Monday’s Ripon Planning Commission.

Commissioners will hold a public hearing on the conditional use permit for RC at next month’s meeting.

Included will be a request for an approximately 6,000 square foot building pole barn building to be used for bus storage and maintenance yard.

Zuidervaart added: “The owners are nearing retirement and are selling 3 parcels on Frontage Road. The parcel that RC is purchasing is approximately .80 acres with an existing metal shop building.”
