Ripon may switch to two container garbage system

The Ripon City Council will meet tonight to discuss the state-required organic waste requirements.

During the 6 p.m. session in the Council Chamber, 259 N. Wilma Ave., staff is scheduled to make the recommendation to elected leaders to continue the two-container system for garbage pickup.

Staff will also seek the go-ahead from City Council to begin the process of drafting agreements between the City of Ripon and certain waste processing facilities in order to effectively comply with the state mandated requirements of SB 1383.

Other items on the agenda include:

·         An introduction to the ordinance that amends the chapter on “Commissions” of the Ripon Municipal Code – the first reading calls for providing the necessary updates and clarification to the commission application and appointment process.

·         A proclamation honoring Melinda Kopp for her 23 years of service as Branch Librarian at the Ripon Memorial Library.

·         A public hearing for the proposed Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Budget.
