The City of Ripon continued to up its game when it comes to water conservation.

Director of Public Works James Pease announced at Tuesday’s Ripon City Council meeting that residents reduced their water usage by 28 percent last month, using the pre-drought February 2013 groundwater levels as the baseline comparison.

They managed to do likewise in January, cutting back their water usage by 9 percent.

Pease provided the reduction numbers compared to a year ago – Ripon residents reduced their water usage by 7 percent last month and by 5 percent this past January.

As a reminder, he said the new three-day-a-week watering scheduled (effective March through October) just started, with folks living in homes with odd-numbered addresses being allowed to do outdoor watering on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Those in homes with even addresses allowed to do their watering on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

No watering is allowed between 10 a.m. through 6 p.m., 48 hours following measurable rain fall.
