Ripon reduces water use by 12.7 percent

The City of Ripon reduced its water usage last month by 12.7 percent.

That’s based on Public Works Director James Pease in his monthly report at last Tuesday’s Ripon City Council meeting.

He said that the recent numbers were measured up to the October 2013 water levels.

Pease added that residents used 2.5 percent less water compared to that of 2022 during this same time.

Ripon’s water conservation ordinance has been around since 2014.

With it comes a twice-yearly watering schedule that applies to all properties with city limits.

Currently, those living in homes with odd-numbered addresses can only water their landscape on Sundays.

Residents with even-numbered addresses can only do so on Saturdays.

No watering is allowed between 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. or 48 hours following measurable rain fall.
