StocktonCon is expanding.

A one-day event known as StocktonCon Winter is planned for Sunday at the Stockton Arena, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“Overwhelming fan support helped StocktonCon move from a one-day event at the University of the Pacific in 2012 to one of the top pop culture events on the West Coast,” said President of Mike Millerick of StocktonCon Events.

StocktonCon Winter is presented by Utility Telecon, and is an expansion of the weekend summer events.

Incidentally, StocktonCon 2019 is scheduled on Aug. 3-4.

Manteca High product and comic book artist Ramon Villalobos, locally, heads the guest list for StocktonCon Winter. Not too long ago his work was featured in Marvel’s “Nighthawk: Hate Makes Hate” (2017) and “E Is For Extinction: Warzones!” (2015).

Villalobos, whose work also includes Border Town, along with Justin Greenwood (The Fuse, The Last Siege) and Brad Simpson (Deadpool, Kong of Skull Island) collaborated on the poster for StocktonCon Winter.

Greenwood and Simpson along with fellow comic book creator Brad Brereton (Batman, Nocturals) will also be in attendance.

StocktonCon Winter will feature a costume contest beginning at 5 p.m. in the arena’s Panel Room.

War Tore Front will provide Collectible Card Gaming inside Gaming Room near the front entrance.

As for proceeds, a portion will go to the United Way and the Child Abuse Prevention Council of San Joaquin.

Tickets are available at the arena box office or at http://ticketmaster.com.

Presale tickets are $8 and $15 at the door.
