Sunrise Kiwanis adding to $1.2M in club donations

The Manteca Sunrise Kiwanis since 1980 has donated $1,224,524 to community endeavors thanks to funds raised at the service group’s annual Pumpkin Fair.

The Kiwanis will add  $45,828 to that total on Tuesday, Feb. 21.

That’s when the service club will conduct their 9th Annual “Community Night of Giving” at the Manteca Senior Center from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.  Light refreshments will be served.   

The local Manteca Sunrise Kiwanis has been providing community service and funding to local organizations since 1980.  Some of their service includes the Manteca Pumpkin Fair,  Flags over Manteca,  high school scholarships, Bike Trail Clean-up, Thanksgiving Dinner, Annual Spring Dinner, Manteca 4th of July Parade, and various events throughout the year. 

This year’s recipients and those receiving funds during the year include: VFW Post 6311, Second Harvest Food Bank, Agape Villages,  American Legion Post 249, Boys & Girls Club of Manteca, East Union High Band Boosters, East Union High JROTC, Give Every Child A Chance, Great Valley Bookfest, Hospice of San Joaquin, Kiwanis Children’s Foundation, Kiwanis Family House, Kiwanis Rose Float, Manteca Historical Society, Manteca Rotary (Omelet Breakfast), Manteca Youth Focus, Every 15 Minutes, Raymus House / Hope Ministries, Sierra High Sober Grad, Valley Caps, Boy Scout Troop 432, CERT, SHARP, High School Scholarships, 4th of July Parade, Wide Horizons, Not Forgotten-Memorial Day Event, His Way Recovery, East Union Cemetery and Thanksgiving in Manteca.

Kiwanis International started in 1915 in Detroit Michigan and has grown to over 16,000 clubs in 80 nations with an average of over 18 million volunteer hours and over $100 million going toward projects in their local communities annually.  Overall Kiwanis members participate in nearly 150,000 projects per year.
