It’s pop music time at this month’s Music on Maple event.

The free entry gathering in the 100 block of South Maple on Thursday, Aug. 20, from 6 to 9 p.m., features a band playing pop music selections.

The Manteca Recreation event includes vendor booths, food trucks, and a beer garden along with photo opportunities.

Front Yard’ competition

The City of Manteca is conducting a “Fabulous Front Yard Competition” to highlight homeowners’ creativity, sustainability, and community pride.

Entries will be evaluated in five categories that — when combined — celebrate beauty, sustainability, and smart design.

The categories are:

*Water efficiency.

*Color and plant palette.

*Use of native plants and landscaping.

*Bee-friendly features.

*Design and creativity.

Applications are now open.

Community voting takes place Aug. 31 through Sept, 13.

The winners will be announced Sept. 21 with recognition at the Oct. 6 City Council meeting.

One finalist will be selected from each City Council District, plus one Mayor's Choice finalist, before the community votes to crown Manteca’s Fabulous Front Yard winner.

Submissions need to list their street address, the entrant’s name and residency conformation.

It also requires three high-resolution photos taken after June 1, 2026.
