Ripon Rotarians gathered at the school district’s warehouse where they tackled cases of dictionaries intended for the Ripon third graders.

Harrison Gibbs carried the boxes to several long tables, where other members went over lists of children at Ripon and Ripon Christian schools who would soon see their names on the inside.

Box lunches were provided by Barnwood Restaurant and a short business meeting was conducted by President Nancy Hall before the team cut open the cases of books.

Third graders have been the focus of many Rotary Clubs over the years. Members of the Ripon club have already signed up to meet with the children at Weston, Parkview, Colony Oak and Ripon schools, as well as Ripon Christian.

School Superintendent Louise Johnson has been a leader in making those presentations fun and educational.  She has added a fun question-and-answer series about dictionaries with the third graders sitting at their desks.

This week’s Rotary meeting is scheduled for another set of box lunches when the group takes a tour of Diamond Pet Food, located at the former Fox River Paper Co. plant.
