WOMAN'S SEX ROMP EXPOSES WORKERS' COMP FRAUD : SAN MATEO  (AP) — A sex romp at a public park helped prosecutors convict a California woman of faking an ankle injury to collect workers' compensation payments, authorities said.

Modupe Adunni Martin, 29, was sentenced to nine months in jail on Thursday in San Mateo County after pleading no contest in October to felony workers compensation fraud.

Martin was caught on videotape in August 2009 throwing her crutches into a car and running in high heels to meet her boyfriend at a public park, where she took part in a sex act that doctors concluded she couldn't have done with an injured ankle, District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.

She was arrested and charged with 10 counts of insurance fraud.

Martin reported the injury in February 2009 while working as a janitor for the Sequoia Union High School District.

Claiming the injury left her unable to walk, Martin made 10 visits to doctors over a three-month span. A co-worker suspected she was exaggerating and alerted the district, which advised investigators.

SF, OAKLAND PLAN HOLIDAY GUN BUYBACK : OAKLAND. (AP) — San Francisco and Oakland police hope a holiday gun buyback program will get firearms off the street.

The buyback today will offer $200 each for up to three weapons per person. Only gun owners with verified residence in either San Francisco or Oakland qualify.

Gun sellers will need a driver's license, utility bill, cellphone bill or mortgage paperwork to prove residency, and police said there will be no background or warrant checks for those who participate.

The residency requirement is meant to sidestep problems seen in a "no questions asked" gun buyback program in 2008.

That program saw plagued by gun owners from outside the area turning over useless antiques and other unsellable weapons.

SAN FRANCISCO BAY REGION 415 AREA CODE NEARLY FULL: SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The San Francisco region's 415 telephone area code is nearly full because of the cellphone surge and a 628 area code overlay is coming in 2015.

The 415 area code has covered the entire San Francisco Bay area for more than a half century.

The California Public Utilities Commission says there aren't enough number combinations left and a new three-digit area code is necessary.

The 626 area code will be given to residents and businesses that get a new number sometime in 2015.
