FRESNO (AP) — Fresno police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide attempt that left a man dead and his wife critically injured.
The Fresno Bee reports that police believe 57-year-old Paul Wayne Motley shot his wife before shooting himself in the head around 11 p.m. Saturday.
Police say officers responding to reports of shots fired found Motley’s body in a roadway in northwest Fresno. Lying next to him was his wife, who was taken to a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound. Her identity has not been released.
Police are investigating the incident. They say Motley’s wife recently filed for divorce and the couple had been separated since January.
