LODI  (AP) — Police in Northern California are investigating the death of a homeless woman who was killed during an apparent drive-by shooting at a Lodi park.

Lodi Police Lt. Shad Canestrino tells KCRA-TV Christina Cantu was targeted but says it’s not clear why.

Police say the shooting happened early Thursday but officers did not receive the first phone call that Cantu had died until she was found seven hours later.

Friends say Cantu was homeless and had lived in the park east of downtown Lodi for at least eight months.
