MODESTO (AP) — Police say a man and his dog were shot while walking in a Modesto park and detectives are looking for the public’s help in capturing the suspect.
KCRA-TV reports Monday the 59-year-old man was walking his Pomeranian Saturday in the Everett Park when he noticed a group of people in the park.
Modesto police says one of the men walked up to the victim and some words were exchanged between the two.
The victim describes hearing a loud bang and realized he and his dog had been shot.
The man was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg and released from the hospital. His dog underwent surgery and remains hospitalized.
Police say the gunman was seen leaving the area in a ‘80s or ‘90s 4-door vehicle, police said.
