Woman drives new BMW through wall at Manteca Wendys

A 66-year-old Modesto woman wasn’t the typical drive-thru customer at Wendy’s fast food restaurant on Yosemite Avenue at Highway 99.
She was driving a new BMW that she told Manteca Police she was unfamiliar with when she drove through the north wall of the Wendy’s entering the restaurant’s kitchen area on Friday at 8:45 p.m.
The restaurant wasn’t as busy as it normally would have been due to Game 4 of the Golden State Warriors-Cleveland Cavaliers NBA title game being broadcast on TV.
The business was closed for the rest of the night as it had to be cleared by a city engineer for structural safety before it could reopen. Wendy’s, that recently underwent an extensive remodeling, was allowed to reopen Saturday.
Manteca Police Lt. Paul Carmona said that the driver was uninjured in the incident. He added that no employees were hurt.
The crash resulted in front end damage to the woman’s vehicle.
