Amelia Espinola was born on August 25, 1918 in Porto Judeo, Terceira, Azores and passed away in Manteca on Monday, Sept. 14. She was 91 years old.  

Amelia attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Escalon, and had been a resident of Stockton for 23 years.  She enjoyed housework, sewing, crocheting and loved taking trips to Brasil & Portugal.

Amelia is survived by her children Urbano & Alcina Sousa of the Azores, Carlos Sousa of Riverbank, Rosa & Frank Amaral of Acampo, Conceicao & Ruy Muna of Brasil, Ilberto & MaryLou Sousa of Stockton, and Elder & Manuela Sousa of Acampo; 22 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband Jose Sousa who passed away in 1972, and her sons Jose Sousa & Alberto Sousa.  She will be remembered as a loving mother & grandmother who especially loved her great grandchildren.

Rosary/Mass will be held on Monday, Sept. 21, at 9:30 a.m., at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Escalon.  Her burial will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.  Arrangements by Deegan Funeral Chapel, Escalon with an online guest book at www.deeganfuneralchapels.com
