Beverly Wild of Manteca, Calif., died peacefully at home on Feb. 19, 2014, with family and her beloved pets.
She was born in 1932 in Palo Alto, Calif., and grew up in California and Oregon. She graduated from Humboldt State College.
Bev had several careers: as a teacher at Manteca High School; medical technologist at Manteca Hospital & Manteca Medical Lab; and her favorite job, as a bus driver for migrant kids in Manteca Unified School District.
Curious & adventuresome, no one remained a stranger for long.  She once traveled alone overnight to Paris just to experience flight on the Concorde. She had a five-star lunch and then flew home.
Bev shared a two-acre farm for over 40 years with her friend & companion Phyllis Forkas. Friends & family gathered there often for the wonderful coffee, laughter, & conversation.  Children especially loved helping Bev in the barnyard, gathering eggs & visiting the animals.
Bev was preceded in death by Phyllis, who passed in November.  She is survived by her adopted family, Jay & Cathy Forkas and Cathy’s children Ben & Kate Pearl.
May she be remembered for the many lives she touched without regard for age, race, religion or resources, and for her great service to our animal friends.
We’ll miss you!
Please make any donations in her honor to Delta Humane Society in Stockton.
