Christy McCain went to heaven at the age of 65 in her home in Pismo Beach, Ca., after a courageous 8-year battle with breast cancer.
Born Christy Diane Wilkin in Glendale, Ca, to her parents Heidi and Doug Wilkin, she was raised in La Crescenta with her brother Gary where she was a cheerleader at Crescenta Valley High.  Christy went on to graduate with a B.A. and a Teaching Credential from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.  She then moved to Manteca, Ca., to pursue a career as an elementary school teacher.  Christy taught primarily 3rd grade at Golden West for over 35 years where she worked with many amazing teachers and lifelong friends.     Manteca is also where she met Robert McCain, her husband of 40 years.  Robert and Christy built a home in Modesto where they raised two kids, Kristin and Robby, and spent many years attending First Baptist Church, Big Valley Grace Community Church, and Christ Community Church.  Christy spent her retired years starting a church library and taking care of her beloved dog Sunny.  Robert and Christy relocated to Pismo Beach a year ago to be closer to their kids and grandkids, and to fulfill Christy’s lifelong dream of living at the beach.  Christy spent her last days surrounded by her family and with a view of the ocean.
Christy’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 18 at 10 a.m. at Christ Community Church, 3242 Carver Road. in Modesto.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Christ Community Church’s Library fund.
