Emelia (Millie) Kaye

Emelia May Enos was the first child born to Freeman (Phillip) and Minnie Enos on May 27, 1925 in Honolulu, HI and passed away in Manteca, CA on April 29, 2015.
   Emelia (known as Millie by many of her friends) attended Catholic schools while growing up in Honolulu and was a witness to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.  She was proud and oftened “talk story” of her Hawaiian roots.
   Early in her career took her to Guam as a civilian employee.  In 1949 Phillip and Minnie Enos moved their family to Hayward.  It was there that Emelia met and married George DeMello at All Saints Church in Hayward.  This marriage produced two children: Ronald DeMello and Gaynel DeMello-Steithorst.  Emelia later married David (Bud) Kaye.
   Emelia worked as an Administrator at Oakland Naval Hospital, Eden Hospital Castro Valley, Washington Township Hospital in Fremont and Oakland Hospital where she retired from in the early 1990’s.  She then retired to her home in Manteca.  Emelia enjoyed gardening and especially her hobby of painting rocks.
   She is survived by sisters Janet Mooney and Dorothy Caeton of Pine Grove, CA and Bernadette Harter of Manteca.  She is preceded in death by brothers; Lawrence (Larry) Enos of Elk Grove and Robert (Bob) Enos of San Ramon.
   She will be missed by her grandchildren, Amy, Domini, and Stacey of Modesto, Billy Streithorst of New York and a great-granddaughter, Abby.  Also missing her will be her many nieces and nephews and her godchild, Harriet Anderson of Manteca.
   A celebration of her life will be held in Manteca on Tuesday, May 5th at Chez Shari at 11a.m.
