Eva Prins passed away in Bethany Home in Ripon on June 18, 2009 at the age of 93.  

Eva Prins was born April 16, 1916 to John and Jennie (Vande Voort) Van Lant in Minnesota.  Eva leaves her husband of 68 years, Edward Prins, a resident of Escalon for 45 years, and 4 children and spouses: Edwin (Anna Jean) Prins of Escalon,  John (Marge) Prins, of Modesto, Arlo (Rita) Prins of Fall River, and Jolene (Willie) Bylsma, of Oakdale, 16 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. Eva is survived by 6 sisters, Henrietta Ruiter, Alberta Gilman, Nellie Fransen, Frances Anker, Elsie VerHey and Rose Bleyenburg, all of  Edgerton, Minnesota, and 3 brothers, John Van Lant from Lakewood, Calif, Lawrence Van Lant from Washington and Cornie Van Lant from Leota, Minnesota. Eva was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, an infant daughter, her son, Larry Prins, and great-grandson, Tyler Verkaik.

Eva was a member of the Escalon Christian Reformed Church for 45 years where she was a member of the Golden Hour Bible Study and the Service Guild. Eva was a nurse’s aide at Escalon Hospital and Doctors Hospital in Modesto before her retirement. Eva enjoyed knitting, embroidering and did sewing alterations for many people. Eva enjoyed cooking, canning and baking and her family loved to come after church on Sunday and enjoy her delicious home-made rolls.

Time for visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Deegan Funeral Chapel in Escalon. The burial will be at Burwood Cemetery in Escalon on Wednesday at 10 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. at the Escalon Christian Reformed Church. Remembrances may be made to Bethany Home in Ripon or Ripon Christian Schools. Arrangements by Deegan Funeral Chapel with an online register book available at www.deeganfuneralchapels.com
