James M. Jennings, age 77, entered into rest on March 9, 2013 in Modesto.  He was born on April 10, 1935 in Bailey, Mississippi to the late Mack and Mary Jennings.  He was a resident of Manteca since 1985 and lived previously in Sunnyvale.

James is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Betty Jennings; his children, James E. Jennings of Lincoln and Debra Jennings Roberson and her husband, Michael of Manteca.  He was blessed with two grandchildren, Carol Winston and Ebony Jennings; and four great grandchildren, Jada, Sincere, Essence and James.  He also leaves behind three siblings, Garfield Adams of Palo Alto, CA, Marlene Crayton of St. Louis, MO and Louise Jennings of Bailey, MS.

James worked as an upholsterer for Santa Clara Transit.  He enjoyed fishing, working on his yard, taking on special projects and different challenges.  He adored his grandchildren and  great grandchildren.  They brought him tremendous joy and a sparkle to his eye.  James will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services for James M. Jennings have been entrusted to PL Fry & Son Funeral Home.  A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 15, at 11:00am at Sequoia Heights Baptist Church, 1050 S. Union Road, Manteca.

Mr. Jennings will be laid to rest at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 W. McCabe Road, Gustine, Monday, March 18th, at 9:30am with full military honors.  An online guestbook is available at www.plfryandson.com.
