Laura Eileen Hackney, 83, entered into rest on December 14, 2010 in Manteca, California. She was born on April 13, 1927 in Oakland, California, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred and Ella May Deacon. She joins her parents in heaven as well as her infant daughter, Gloria Jean.

Laura is survived by her children: Charles Hackney Jr., Stephen Hackney, Jean Smith, and Mary Cavallaro. She was blessed with 8 grandchildren: Regina Fierro, Lisa Schneider, Adam Hackney, Virginia Hackney, Jennifer Smith-Hall, Stephen Hackney II, Ryan Hackney and Juline Hackney. She had 4 great-grandchildren whom she adored: Angelina Lucchessi, Anthony Fierro, Monique Schneider and Treyvon Schneider. In addition, she has one surviving sister, Alice Kurtz.

Laura was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading, gardening, listening to classic music and being outdoors. She will be remembered as a kind woman with an honest heart. She will be missed.

Services for Mrs. Hackney will be held at Rolling Hills Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 4100 Hilltop Dr. Richmond, CA, on Tuesday, Dec. 21, at 1 p.m. P.L.
