Leonora Marie Tirado finally lost the struggle of a twenty three year fight with cancer on Friday, Sept. 24, 2010. “Lee”, as her friends knew her, was 79 years of age, living in Manteca, CA, USA.

Leonora was born on November 6, 1930 in Oakland, CA, USA, where she grew up and eventually worked. As a textbook clerk of Fremont High School, Oakland, she found that her two loves could be combined, one being the love of youth, and the other, a love of books. Between the two, she touched the lives of many students and influenced them for good. After 43 years, she retired from the school district and moved to Manteca where she grew to love the Senior Center and the beautiful farms and orchards that she missed so much having lived in Hayward for so many years. She eventually moved in with her daughter, Mickie Barker, and her family where she’s been living for the past ten years.
Lee was always cheerful with her beautiful red dress and colorful scarves….and of course, we can’t forget her signature red lipstick. She loved people and often reminisced about the old times. She enjoyed the different activities at the Manteca Senior Center and quickly made friends at the various grocery stores and restaurants around town. Her laughter and the sparkle in her eyes could be felt by all. She is survived by her three daughters, Kathie Marie Wright of Virginia, Jeanne Anne Tirado of Farmersville, and Mickie Lynn Barker of Manteca. She will be missed by grandchildren and great grandchildren as well.

A coastal memorial picnic table will be placed in Leonora’s honor, as we all know of her great fondness of the ocean and the butterflies that congregate there.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day-Saints, 1233 Northgate Drive, Manteca, CA, on Nov. 26, 2010 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Online condolences at www.neptune-society.com Stockton Branch.
