Loid C. Shipp, Sr., 81, entered into rest on August 29, 2019 in Manteca, CA. He was born in New Mexico on March 19, 1938.
   He is survived by loving family, wife of 56 years, Angie Shipp, children, Loid Shipp Jr. (Debbie) and Stacy Ann Holland (Kenny), grandchildren, Ryan Shipp, Olivia Shipp, Tyler Lee Holland and Trevor Lee Holland, nephew, Chuck Shipp (Kristi) and great-niece and nephew, Kayla and Colby.
   Loid retired from the United States Coast Guard after twenty years of service. He settled in Manteca from Washington after retirement and went to work for Sharpe Army Depot as a heavy equipment operator, retiring once again after 20 years. Loid was a member of the VFW Post 6311, SHARP and SAFE where he loved working with his community. He was an extremely talented woodworker where he was able to give back to his community by making items such as podiums for the local VFW.  Above all, Loid was a family man who loved his wife, children and grandchildren, he always set forth in striving for the best for them as he commonly would express how “blessed” he was especially when it came to his grandchildren. Loid will be remembered for his strong work ethics, his giving spirit and his unconditional love he portrayed towards others. He will be deeply missed.
   P.L. Fry and Son is honored to be serving the Shipp family. Visitation will be on Friday, September 6, 2019, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., held at P. L. Fry and Son, 290 N. Union Rd., Manteca, CA. A celebration of life will be on Saturday, September 7, 2019 1 p.m., also held at P.L. Fry and Son. He will be laid to rest privately at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the American Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
