Lottie I. Bishop, 94, entered into rest on October 19, 2012 in Lathrop, CA. She was born on October 26, 1917 in Grapevine, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Henry Bishop. Mrs. Bishop is survived by her children, Tom Bishop (Coletta), Juanita Lamb, Mae Abatangle, Pat Beagles, James Bishop (Debbie), and Marie Cobun (Bob). She was blessed with 14 grandchildren, Barbara Thompson (Lewis), Debbie Schmidt (Henry), Donna Walker, Diane Lazard, Chuck White (Lisa), Karen Thompson (Mark), Nancy Roberts, Kathy Devencenzi, Brian Beagles (Tammy), Stephanie Welch, Chris Bishop (Melissa), Marshall Bishop, Scott Cobun (Jennifer), and Josh Cobun. In addition Lottie has 31 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
Lottie was a resident of Lathrop since 1948. She was employed at San Joaquin Juvenile Hall, Lathrop School and Manteca Cannery. She survived the depression and worked as a ship builder during WWII. She and her husband Henry raised six children in a loving caring home where she devoted herself to her growing family over the course of almost 70 years. She was a lifetime member of the Chamber of Commerce and St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. She was instrumental in working with various organizations, the Senior Programs, Brown Bag, Salvation Army Research Program, Election Board, Lathrop Days Celebration, Commodities, California Parks and Recreation Society, Senior Service Agency Nutrition Program, Rebecca Lodge, San Joaquin County Fair and Lathrop Agricultural Booth. She was a recipient of the Woman of the Decade Award and Legislative Treasures Award. She enjoyed gardening, baking for family and friends, going to Curves until the age of 91and helping others. Lottie will be remembered as a perfect example of how to show love and kindness towards others without reserve. She will be missed by many.
