Magnolia E. Miller, 84, entered into rest on February 2, 2009 in Manteca. She was born on May 27, 1924 in Tunica, Mississippi to Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel and Carrie Davis. She joins her parents in heaven as well as her beloved son Cornell Miller who passed away in December of 2008.
Magnolia is survived by her loving husband of 63 years Leroy Miller. Granddaughters Shuntel Miller and Stephanie Miller both of Hayward, and siblings; Lester Davis of Oakland, Howard Davis of San Diego, Charles Davis of Chicago, Alma Milbrook of San Diego, and Arlillian Burris of Chicago.
Magnolia was originally from New York were she retired from the New York Correctional Facility as an administrator for over 22 years. After retirement Magnolia and Leroy moved to Manteca 24 years ago to be closer to family. When moving to Manteca, Magnolia along with her husband joined United Lutheran Church on Northgate Drive, where they were faithful members for 24 years. She was avid bridge player and was a member of the Federated Woman’s organization for 15 years. She enjoyed traveling and being with family. She will be remembered as a fine lady who was loved deeply. She will be missed.
Mrs. Miller’s arrangements are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. Visitation will be held at P.L. Fry & Son on Wednesday February 11, 2009 from `1 to 5 p.m., 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. Services will be held on Thursday February 12, 2009 at 10 a.m. also held at P.L. Fry & Son. Burial will take place at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery on Thursday, Feb. 12, at 1 p.m. in Gustine.
