On April 15, 2026, Dolores Lee Hoover went home to be with her Lord and Savior with her family by her side. She was 90 years old. Dolores was born on October 10, 1935, in Van Nuys, California, to Dave and Ruth Gardner just seven minutes after her identical twin sister, Doris.
Dolores was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley and graduated from Van Nuys High School in 1953. She married the love of her life, Mike Hoover, on June 1, 1956. Together they were proud parents of one son, and three daughters. They were married for 62 wonderful years. In 1970, she moved to Pleasanton with her family where she was a homemaker. In 1989, she moved to Manteca.
Dolores had a love for camping, baking, fishing, and traveling in her motorhome. None of these things would be complete without sharing them with her family and friends; her true joy came from being around those she loved. Her family and friends will remember her for her strong Christian faith, loving heart, and many special things she created for them such as cakes for special occasions, knitted Christmas stockings, and baby blankets, just to name a few. She will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandma, and GG.
Dolores has now been reunited in Heaven with her parents, her sisters, Dona LeMelle and Doris McConnell, her husband, Mike, her daughter-in-law, Lindsey Hoover, and many other friends and family. She will be remembered and missed by her son, David, daughters Becky, Pam (Ron), and Jill (Mike), grandchildren Ryan, Joel, Michael, Tricia, Christopher, Clint, Daniel, Andrea, Blake, Tiffany, Wesley, and Spencer and their spouses and 23 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Although we will miss her dearly, we are comforted to know that she is at home in Heaven with her Lord and savior.
The Graveside Service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery. The Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Community Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the building fund at Grace Community Church, Lathrop.
