Maria Lacerda Ramos Andre, 92, entered into rest on Wednesday, January 27, in Manteca surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 3, 1917 in Salao, Faial, Azores to the late Mr. and Mrs. Antonio and Rosa Ramos. She joins her parents and husband in heaven Antonio Andre as well as her siblings Antonio Ramos, Rosa Lacerda, and Joe Ramos.

Mrs. Andre is survived by her children; Mary DaRosa and her husband Joe of Manteca, Hilda Andre Goyette and husband Roger of Stockton, Victor Antonio Andre of Manteca, and Joe R. Andre and wife Dianne of Clements. She was blessed with six grandchildren; Lisa Goyette Leonard, David Goyette, Kenneth DaRosa, Christopher DaRosa, Jason Andre and Jerry Andre. Her beloved great-grandchildren are Dylan, Drake, and Devin Leonard, Joseph and Zachariah Goyette, Camille and Jamison Avila DeRosa, and Noah, Simon, and Julia Andre. In addition Maria was survived by three loving sisters; Hilda Lacerda of RI, Ana Lacerda Melo Ferreira of Portugal and Georgina Lacerda DosAnjos of MA. Maria was also a very special aunt to many nieces and nephews throughout California, Portugal, and the East Coast.

In Maria’s younger years she worked at Banquet Foods in Turlock for six years. In 1974 Maria then was employed at Eckert Cold Storage up until 1980. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church where she was a devout Catholic. She was also a member of the FESM hall of Manteca. She loved cooking and baking as she found joy in feeding her family many different Portuguese dishes. Maria was at peace when working in her yard tending to her flowers. Maria enjoyed her morning walks as she walked every morning around her neighborhood. She also loved her Spanish Soap Opera’s; she never missed a dramatic romantic episode. Maria will be remembered as a strong woman who was a special mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be missed.

Mrs. Andre services are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. Visitation will be on Monday, February 1, from 1 to 5 p.m. held at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. A Rosary/ mass will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 2, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church 525 E. North St. Manteca. She will be laid to rest at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.
