Robert “John” Dunaway, 85, entered into rest on September 27, 2019. He was born in Alfalfa, Oklahoma on October 31, 1933.
   He is preceded in death by his mother Evelyn Brown, step-dad Jim Bley, sister Doris Villareal and grandson Jacob Roberts.
   Mr. Dunaway is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years Mary Dunaway; children, Cathy Slaughterback (Mike), Cheryl Bloom (Brad), Susan Roberts (Randy) and John Dunaway. He was blessed with seven surviving grandchildren, Susan, David, Sarah, Stacie, Lisa, Melody and Amber and 12 great-grandchildren.
   John proudly served his country through the United States Army. He made his career as a formica cabinet top builder and installer, working for Pleasanton Plastics for over 32 years. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. John was an outdoorsman where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will be remembered for his fun loving character and his kind spirit. He will be deeply missed.
   P.L. Fry & Son Chapel is honored to be serving the Dunaway family. Visitation will be on Monday, October 7, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. followed by a rosary/vigil at 7 p.m. held at P.L. Fry & Son Chapel, 290 N. Union Rd., Manteca, CA. Mass will be on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at 12:00 noon held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 525 E. North St., Manteca, CA. He will be laid to rest at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, 17871 S. Carrolton Rd., Escalon, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Jacob Roberts Memorial Scholarship (checks payable to Reed High School), C/O Susan Roberts, 5546 Santa Rosa Ct., Sparks, NV 89436
