Shirley J. Hammerson, 83, entered into rest on April 15, 2015 in Manteca CA.  She was born on May 22, 1931 in Oakland CA. 
   She is preceded in death by her husband of 60  years Thomas Hammerson and her oldest daughter in law Kathy Hammerson.
   Shirley is survived by her four sons Bruce, Doug and his wife Lisa, Mark and his ex-wife Kathy and Glenn.  She was blessed by seven grandchildren Bradley, Richard, Megan, Jenni, Rachael, Jennifer and Mark Thomas and five great grandchildren. Shirley worked and raised her family in Fremont. She was a teacher at Maloney Elementary School where she taught kindergarten for over 26 years. After retirement she and her husband Tom moved to Greenville CA. While living in Greenville she was involved with the Taylorsville Quilting Club, Greenville Red Hatters. She also volunteered for the Indian Valley Thrift Shop and the Greenville Food Pantry and was a member of the Greenville Southern Baptist Church. Three short years ago Tom and Shirley moved to Manteca to be closer to family. While in Manteca she enjoyed living at Merrill Gardens/ Brookdale Senior Living where she loved music night, bible study and leadership meetings. She truly enjoyed the many friends she came to know and love while living at Merrill Gardens. She was well known for her love of animals especially cats and for her love of Oakland A’s Baseball. Above all Shirley will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved her family unconditionally.         She will be deeply missed. P.L. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 12:00 Noon at Greenville Southern Baptist Church 241 Greenville Wolfe Creek Road Greenville CA. 95947. She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at Greenville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to your local Animal Shelter.
