Editor, Manteca Bulletin,
In the recent primary election I had the privilege of running for a seat on the San Joaquin County Board of Education. It was my first time running for an elected position and the whole experience gave me a new found appreciation for those who run for public office. I found campaigning to be one of the most difficult things I have ever done, while at the same time being tremendously gratifying.
During the campaign, I met many people who were deeply committed to their children and our schools. That makes me feel good about our future. I could not have run my campaign without the support and assistance of my family and friends, especially those colleagues who served on my committee. I want to publicly thank and acknowledge them. I also want to thank all of the people who voted for me and supported my efforts. Finally, I congratulate Janet Machado Dyk for winning the seat. I wish her all the best during her next term on the board.
