The San Joaquin County Chapter of the California Grand Jurors’ Association is conducting at informational meeting on Wednesday, March 21, in Manteca.

It will take place at 6 p.m. in the John McFall Room at the Manteca Library, 320 W. Center St. It will cover the San Joaquin County Civil Grand Jury and its operation.

The Civil Grand Jury’s role is that of a “watchdog” looking out for the interests of the taxpayers in San Joaquin County.  Though the Civil Grand Jury is an arm of the court, it operates as a truly independent group of citizens.  The Civil Grand Jury’s purpose is to help local city and county governments and their agencies to operate more efficiently, effectively and with more transparency.

After applying and upon successfully being sworn in, a Grand Juror will receive multiple days of training.  The Grand Juror will learn much about local government operations via tours, presentations and investigations.  The deadline for application submission is April 6, 2018.

If you are interested in an intellectually stimulating endeavor and want to help make local government agencies better, then attend the presentation meeting.
