The drought isn’t quite over.

The Ripon City Council echoed just that at their last meeting.

After months of posting outstanding water conservation figures, residents used 26.4 percent less water in May of this year compared to May of 2013.

Those recent figures were compared against 2013 as the base-line comparison, according to Director of Public Works Ted Johnston.

Consider, too, that water consumption for May 2016 was at 36 percent lower than 2013.

“We’re still in the ballpark (of 30 percent) for the year,” Johnston added.

Elected leaders reminded folks that the water conservation regulations in Ripon are still in effect.

This includes no watering between the hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

From now through October, residents in homes with even numbered addresses are designated to watering their outdoor landscape on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Those in odd numbered addresses can do likewise on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

No watering of ornamental landscape will be allowed during and 48 hours following measurable rain fall.

No watering outside to a point that causes excessive runoff on to the sidewalk gutters.

Water leaks, breaks and plumbing malfunction of any kind must be repaired 24 hours from the time of discovery.
